How To Take Care of Your Skin in the Winter
Keep Winter from Damaging Your Skin and Dulling Your Natural Glow
With the season changing and the temperatures dropping, it’s time to change up your skincare routine for the winter months.
Winter brings a host of skincare challenges, including dry air, holiday stress, unhealthy dietary changes, and alcohol consumption that can take a serious toll on your skin.
With that in mind, there are several things you can do to keep your skin looking great through winter.
1. Hydrate Inside and Out
The cold weather months are a good time to focus on increasing the water content of your skin.
Between dry air, heavy winds, and the effects of food and drink indulgence, it’s easy for your skin to lose healthy moisture before you even know it.
The first thing you can do is make sure you are drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
This can include warm seasonal beverages, purified water, seltzer with a splash of fruit juice – whatever you like to drink.
Just be sure to minimize your sugar intake – and watch the salt! – and drink extra water whenever you consume alcohol.
Preserve the healthy skin barrier and its moisture by switching to a gentle cleanser for winter.
You should also consider switching to a deeply hydrating moisturizer or adding a serum with hyaluronic acid to your routine.
2. Schedule Regular Facials
Even with the best at-home skin care routine and a focus on healthy hydration, your skin will need an extra boost to offset the change in weather, added stress, and the dietary stresses of winter.
We recommend scheduling a facial at least once a month to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.
Try an exfoliating facial to rid your skin of dry, dead skin cells. Malibu MedSpa offers a variety of custom facials that use gentle exfoliation – a less damaging and drying process that is perfect for cold weather months.
To gently remove that dead skin cell layer and infuse it with nourishing moisture, try our Firming Transformation Facial with hyaluronic acid and pepper berry.
For dull, dehydrated skin, our Antioxidant Anti-Aging Facial, brightens and hydrates tired skin with a blend of vitamin C, botanicals, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.
Or for breakouts or after the stresses of travel, our custom Purifying Probiotic Facial
will clear out impurities and restore the natural balance of your skin.
We also recommend trying a dermaplaning session for unrivaled smoothness and glow.
3. Refresh with Low or No-Downtime Winter Skin Therapies
For a quick skin pick-me-up with no downtime and long-lasting results, LED Light Therapy uses soothing light energy for skin rejuvenation and deep cellular renewal. It can be done as often as once a week and helps with a variety of skin concerns, including redness, acne, wrinkles, dullness, and sagging, tired, skin.
Geneo Facials provide gentle chemical exfoliation, an oxygen boost from within, and winter-skin-woes-busting infusions of concentrated botanicals, too.
Another advanced skin renewal treatment with no downtime is The PRX-T33. It nourishes, restores lost moisture, and restores evenness and brightness to skin.
Microneedling is also a great low-downtime winter treatment for skin renewal, as it stimulates deep cellular healing, increased collagen production, and better absorption of topical treatments.
4. Winter is the Time for Advanced Skin Treatments
The sunnier months and all their fun activities mean you don’t necessarily want to spend time waiting for irritation to subside or redness to go away.
And many advanced skin treatments require you to avoid sun exposure altogether, which is not something you want to do during the vacation season!
That makes winter the perfect time to schedule an advanced skin rejuvenating treatment.
Try a PlasmaMD pen treatment for a serious winter skin transformation. You may need up to a week of downtime for this therapy, but it’s a non-invasive treatment with a big results payoff.
Laser Rejuvenation is another great treatment to plan during the winter months. It can help erase hyperpigmentation, get rid of broken blood vessels, smooth stretch marks, and scarring, and restore beautiful evenness to the skin.
And the best time to schedule Laser Hair Removal, which requires avoiding the sun both before and after treatments, is definitely winter. It can seriously slow hair growth for semi-permanent results and make maintenance simple and easy.
Don’t Wait to Schedule All Your Winter Skin Care Treatments
The holidays mean everyone wants to look their best, so we see a lot of clients during the late fall and early winter months.
